Biography

Violet Lilian was born on the 18th August 1903^[1][2] at Acton, Middlesex, England^[3][4] or Hammersmith, London, England and baptised on the 18th October 1903 at St. John the Evangelist, Hammersmith, London, England, the daughter of Charles Nott (boiler maker) and Annie Nott of 84 Overstone Road.^[1]

In 1924 a Violet Lilian Nott married Wilmore Laurie Rees in Hampshire, England.*

Research Notes

The baptism at Hammersmith, London is believed to be the correct one, as her brother William John Nott was also baptised at Hammersmith, London in 1905, and the same address was given. The address looks like 84 Ooerstone Road, which was probably Overstone Road at Hammersmith. However Overstone Road is just over 2 miles away from Acton in Middlesex, where Violet Lilian and her brother William John were supposedly born (according to the 1911 and 1921 census).

The Violet L Rees married to Wilmore L Rees living 11 Trafalgar Road, Newport, Isle of Wight in 1939 has a date of birth recorded as 27th July 1903, which does not match the date of birth given on her baptism (18th August 1903).

Violet Lilian Rees, of 11 Trafalgar Road, Newport, Isle of Wight, widow, died 4th May 1963 at St. Mary's Hospital, Newport (Isle of Wight). Administration of her estate was granted to Beryl Enid Mosling (wife of Albert James Harold Mosling). Effects: £687 17s.^[5]. The death registration does not give an exact date of birth.

A copy of the marriage of Violet Lilian Nott to Wilmore Rees would be required to confirm fathers name/occupation and witnesses who may be related.

This is probably the same Violet Lilian Nott, but her date of birth was either recorded incorrectly on her baptism or the 1939 register. Her birth registration and school admission registers would give her accurate date of birth.
