Biography

Emma was born about 1837. She passed away about 1904. Based on research Emma had a few tragedies in her life including loss of a husband and death of at least one child and several siblings.

However when she passed away seems to have enjoyed some prosperity. The following is extracted from the "Trove" database and is an advertisement to clear probate for Emma and her second husbands estates. It seems they owned 5 properties between them.

Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1957), Saturday 26 March 1904, page 2 THIS DAY. On the Premises. NEWPORT and SPOTTISWOODE. In Deceased Estates. T. P. HANNAH and Co. (T. P. Hannah, auctioneer) are favoured with instructions, from the executors in the following estates to SELL by AUCTION, on above date.

The following properties, to close accounts:— At Three p.m. No. 69 and 71 William-street, NEWPORT.

In the Estate of Emma Lennox, Deceased.

No. 69.— "Cambridge," W.B. cottage, iron roof, 3 rooms, L. and P., bathroom, B.V., covered in, sink, &C., let at 5/ week. No. 71.— W.B. cottage, S.F., iron roof, .3 rooms, L. and P. and W.L., sink, &c., let at 3/6 week. The above cottages are erected on land 40 x 165 to a 16ft. 6in. right-of-way at rear, being part of C.P. 20, Section 7.

At a Quarter-past Three p.m. Nos. 99, 101, and 103 William-street, NEWPORT.

In the Estate of Thomas Lennox, Deceased. No. 99.— "Rutherglen," W.B. cottage, S.F. ,iron roof, 4 rooms, sink, copper, shed, oven and dresser in kitchen, B.V., covered in, &c., land about 19 x 165, to r.o.w. at rear; part C.P. 19, Sect. 7. No. 101.— W.B. shop and dwelling, of 5 rooms, conveniences, range and dresser in kitchen, B.V., covered in, iron roof, &c.; let at 10/ week; lease expires January 1905; land about 21 x 165. No. 103.— "Helensburgh," W.B. cottage, S.F.,4 rooms, range and dresser in kitchen, copper, sink, bath, B.V., covered in, sheds, &c.; land 26ft. 8in. x 165ft. to r.o.w.
