George W. Northcutt (or Northcut), was born in 1847, in Shelby County, Alabama. He was the son of John Noel Northcutt and Nancy Hamilton.
In the 1850 census George (age 9) was living with his parents in Shelby County, Alabama. His father was a farmer. [1]

He enlisted in the Confederate Army, serving with Company C, 31st Regiment, Alabama Infantry. [3]
George was captured by the Union Army, he died in Camp Chase on 11 February 1865. He was buried in the Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, Plot 1193.[4][5]
