Leslie Nielsen was a Canadian-born actor known for his success in mid-career as a comic actor in such films as “Airplane!” and the “The Naked Gun” movie/"Police Squad!" crime comedy television series where played police officer Frank Drebin. [1] In his career, which spanned sixty years, he appeared in more than 100 films and 150 television programs.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, in 1926, he was the son of Ingvard Eversen Nielsen, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable, and Mabel Davies. He married four times. His first wife (1950-56) was singer Monica Boyer; his second (1958-73) was Alisande Ullman, with whom he had two daughters; his third (1981-83) was Brooks Oliver. Those marriages ended in divorce. In 2001 he married Barbaree Earl.
He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2002.
