Sorry I am 4 months late with a response because I just saw it. (I don't visit my own page much). I don't believe I am genetically related to the Hairstons. I believe I am related through various people related to some of the Hairstons. The key being the geographical area of SE Virginia, in and around Martinsville. I am a descendant of Joseph Martin the namesake, who had descendants marry into the Hairstons. I am also related through slavery and children of slaveholder/slave relationships. Genealogy isn't always pretty and DNA shows the proof, and the truth, and the light.

William (Arbuthnot) Arbuthnot of Kittybrewster 2nd Bt

Arbuthnot-4040 married Gibson-1204 who belonged to a. very duplicated family which has the mother as. Browne-4892 who is attached to this (or another) bracewell family. through her mother, Braswell-1170.

I think this whole thing has not yet been wrapped up and needs further attention - from someone brilliant.

Hans, I read with interest your query about your Spencer lines. From the information given I don't believe that our lines are the same although far enough back they could be. My Spencer line is quite direct from Bedfordshire, England to Haddam, Connecticut to West Stockbridge, Mass to Utah by way of Nauvoo and Winter Quarters.
