Ophelia (Newman) Smith was born on 12 Jan 1902 in Jennings, Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana, United States, daughter of Joseph Newman (1872–1954) and Carmelite (Benoit) Newman (1875–1963).
In the 1910 census Opheilia (age 8) was the daughter of Joseph Newmon in Police Jury Ward 1, Acadia, Louisiana, United States.[1]
Ophelia died on 7 Feb 1987 in Lafayette, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, aged 85. She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Jennings, Louisiana.
