Col Robert Laverne Neff was born on August 21, 1936, in Belmont, Ohio. He was the son of Robert Neff and Leota Mae Williams. He married Andrea Marie Jackopin 14 Oct 1975.[1]
Bob Neff was a Marine during the Vietnam war and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross on October 8, 1967 for actions he took to evacuate seriously wounded special forces soldiers from deep in enemy controlled territory while his own aircraft came under heavy fire.
He also received the Legion of Merit, Defense Service, Joint Service, and Air Medals.
Col. Neff, a retired naval aviator and a Vietnam veteran, was a graduate of Ohio State University (OSU), Auburn University and the class of 1954 of Belmont High School in Ohio.[2]
He died on May 16, 1996, in Virginia at the age of 59, and was buried in Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, Virginia, Section 11 Site 427.[3]
