Leo was born in 1921. He passed away in 2005.

Obituary

Leo D. Neel, 84, of St. Paul, formerly of Polk, died Friday, July 15, 2005, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Tom Peyton officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Neel was born on Jan. 5, 1921, at York to Alvin and Martha (Guyla) Neel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta "Bobbi" Neel.

Survivors of the immediate family include a son, Lee Neel of Archer; two daughters, Gloria Clark of Gainesville, Ga., and JoAnn Osler of Giltner; a foster daughter, Bernadette "Bernie" Kasmanchy of Aurora; two sisters, Opal Rosdahl of Caldwell, Idaho, and Luwanna Bartek of Elmwood; and five brothers, Clyde Neel of Issaquah, Wash., Jack Neel, Bill Neel and Mike Neel, all of North Loup, and Dewey Neel of Ord.

Additional survivors include nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He grew up in York, until moving to Loup County and Garfield at the age of 11. He entered the United States Army on July 9, 1942, serving in WWII. He was honorably discharged in January of 1946.

He was united in marriage to Mary Henion in 1942, at Taylor. He then married Roberta "Bobbi" Wiltfang on June 15, 1960, at Harvard. The couple lived in Harvard until moving to North Dakota. They returned to Nebraska in 1963, living in Harvard, Ord, Aurora, Hampton and Chapman. Leo was employed as a truck driver for 21 years, working for the Highway Maintenance Department for the State of Nebraska, and was caretaker, along with his wife, for Bader Park. He retired in 1983. His wife, Bobbi, died on Jan. 30, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Fonetta "Blondie" McDermott, Evelyn Conner and Ellen "Jean" Sebesta.
