Nathaniel was born about 1704, the son of Thomas Neate. Nathaniel, son of Thomas and Elizabeth, was baptised on 26 December 1704 in Pewsey, Wiltshire, England.[1]

Nathaniel's estate passed probate in 1739. He was living in East Knoyle, 3 miles from Chicklade, and had one son William who was a minor.[2]

  • Robert Neate of Great Bedwyn (brother)
  • John Neate of Barton Farm, Preshute (brother)
  • James Neate of Preshute (brother)

Nathaniel (age 28) married Hannah Rabbetts (age 27) in 1734 in Chicklade, Wiltshire, England.[3]

Likely his son William. William, son of Nathan Noates [Neates] and Hannah Noates, was born on 26 August 1736 and baptised on 21 September 1736 in Chicklade, Wiltshire, England.[4]

I've removed the middle name of James as no evidence found to confirm it. Middle names were uncommon at this time, and none of the added sources show it existed. If a source is found it can be reinstated. I don't believe he married Frances Savage, that was his brother James, Nathaniel seems to have married Hannah Rabbetts.

Actually what you mentioned doesn't add up - Nathaniel James Neate born c. 1704 so Frances Savage born c. 1713 can't be his mother. The Frances Savage profile I mentioned below has her married to a James Neate - so maybe his wife rather than mother?

Sorry must be a transcription error:

N J Neate b circa 1704 in Pewsey Wiltshire. Died about 1749. Mother: Elizabeth Hayward (from several MyHeritage family tree sources ). My interest is in the Savage line so have not researched the Neate line apart from Frances and daughter Sarah.

Frances Savage (his wife) b March 1713 in Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire died at same location . Father John Savage c 1676-1721 Mother Frances Dore b circa 1687

Thanks Peter, that makes more sense, I've added some of that in.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your message.

I see there’s a Frances Savage b.1713 on wikitree already… https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Savage-4098 That has spouse as James Neate but maybe that was the preferred name of my Thomas Neate. The manager of that is Gaye Cairns so presumably not connected to you?

What was the source(s) of your information?

Thanks,

Henry.
