Born to Louisiana Jones and William Murrell in New Orleans, Lousiana, USA, on 21 April 1881.[1]
Served in the Company D, 10th Infantry, U.S. V.Inf. (Infantry, Company D) during the War with Spain. Mustered out in March 1899 in Macon Georgia. Rank of Sgt. [2][3]
Operated on in May 1899 for obstruction of the bowel and died soon after in the Freedman's hospital in Washington DC.
Buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Section: 23, Grave: 16648-6. Interment form of 1952 says "Section Colored, Grave #15585" [4][5]
