Biography
James was born in 1775. He was baptised 23 May 1775 in Bentworth, Hampshire [1]
He was a private in the 10th Regiment of Light Dragoons. Discharged 17 Feb 1797 as a Chelsea Pensioner, having served 2 years and 10 months. Sustained a blow to the head whilst on recruiting service at Farnham and was since subject to convulsive fits. Discharged at Guildford. [2]
He married Sarah Taplin in 1797 in Shalden,Hampshire [3]. Sarah died in 1811 in Mortlake, Surrey [4]
He had a second partner called Mary according to the baptism of their children in Mortlake between 1812-186.
He also had a relationship with Hannah Milkin with whom he had a child in 1823.
