Upon her retirement she surprised friends and family by moving to Augusta, Georgia, where she continued her long-standing volunteer work on AIDS outreach as well as raising funds and awareness for the March of Dimes and the Democratic party. A lifelong Episcopalian and devout parishioner, Catherine joined St. Augustine's of Canterbury, Augusta, GA, where she was active in Sunday school, summer camp, and the soup kitchen.
Catherine truly enjoyed traveling and being something of an anglophile she loved spending time in London, Scotland and touring the Irish countryside. In addition to traveling, among Catherine's many hobbies were gardening, jewelry making and reading.
Catherine was cremated and has a memorial stone at St. Augustine's of Canterbury's cemetery.
