Biography
Ralph Hilliard Murdock was born on 29 July 1909 in Coffee County, Alabama, United States.[1][2] His parents were James John Murdock (1887-1959) and Nola Myrtle (Chancey) Murdock (1890-1965).
He was listed as Hilliard R. Murdock on the 1910 United States Census when he was 9 months old. He was living in the household of his parents in Hacoda, Geneva County, Alabama.[3]
Ralph Murdock was 10 years old when the 1920 United States Census was taken. He was living in the household of his parents in Clintonville, Coffee County, Alabama.[4]
A 1930 United States Census has not yet been located.
He was married to Hilda Mae Absher before 1932, based on the age of the child listed with them on the 1940 United States Census. They were the parents of at least two children, one of whom is possibly still living. Their daughter, Gail (Murdock) Andrews, died in 2017.[5]
Ralph and Hilda Murdock were living in the household of Ralph's parents in Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama when the 1940 United States Census was taken. They had one child at the time who was also living in the household. Ralph was working as an enbalmer for a funeral home.[6]
Ralph, Hilda, two children, and three lodgers made up their household in 1950. They were living in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Ralph was working as the sales manager for a retail auto accessories business.[7]
Ralph Hilliard Murdock submitted his World War II Draft Registration Card to the local board in Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama on 16 October 1940. He was 31 years old. He was living and working in Enterprise. His employer was Gulf Life Insurance Company. He named his wife, Mrs. Hilda Absher Murdock, as the person who would always know his address. He was described as:[1]

Ralph Hilliard Murdock passed away on 02 November 1958, at the age of 49, in Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama.[2] He was buried in Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama.[8][9]
Research Notes
His obituary mentions a widow (not named) and two children as survivors. One of the children is potentially still living so is not named here.[8]
