Evidences from Contemporaneous Records

Joan Munchesney who was married to Walter of Colchester could not have been the daughter of this Roger de Munchensy who was born circa 1118. Joan was 24 when an Inquisition was taken after the death of her brother, Hubert de Monte Kaniso during the reign of Henry III.^[2] Hubert's Inquisition is undated but in 1269 Joan, her husband, Walter of Colchester, Joan's sister, Euphemia, and Euphemia's husband, David de Balcorahigh, paid a fine to have seisen of Joan and Euphemia's inheritance from Hubert.^[3] Therefore Joan, 24 years of age before the fine was paid in 1269, so born circa 1245, could not have been the child of a man born in circa 1118.

Hubert's Inquisition also states that Agatha (Agasia) late the wife of Roger de Monte Kaniso held in dower a third part of the whole manor of Stratford, Suffolk, but the relationship between Hubert, Joan, Eupehmia, and Roger and his wife, Agatha, is not specified.^[2]
