Biography

Cpl James Mote served in the United States Civil War.
Enlisted: 15 Aug 1862
Mustered out: 13 Jun 1865

James was born in 1839. James enlisted in Company A of the 103rd OVI on 15 Aug 1862. He was promoted to Corporal on 24 Nov 1862. James was captured at the Battle of Blue Springs on 5 Oct 1863. He was a prisoner of war at the Andersonville Stockade, Georgia; transferred to Millen Prison, Georgia, 11 Nov 1864. Mustered out at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio by Order of the War Department on 13 Jun 1865. James was living in San Francisco, California by 1886. James' wife Martha, filed for a widow's pension on 8 Apr 1893. He passed away in 1893.
