John Morris was born about 1911 in Llandybie, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

In the England and Wales Census of 1851 he is age 39, a Miner, living in Merthyr Tydfill with his wife Matilda (age 31), daughter Harriett (age 6), and daughter Margaret (age 2).

In the England and Wales Census of 1861 he is age 50, an Iron Miner, living in Merthyr Tydfill with his wife Matilda (age 43), daughter Mary (age 18), daughter Margaret (age 12), and daughter Maria (age 7).
