Biography

Anders (Andrew) Olson Morken was born on 6 Jan 1856 in Stormorka Farm, Kvam, Nord-Fron, Oppland, Norway. He immigrated to America in 1878

"W.A. Morken. January 1973: Mother and Dad "Andrew" and Mrs. Morken came to America with their parents from Norway about 100 years ago. Came to Minnesota. They were married and took a homestead of 160 acres, free prairie land. They lived in a small house built of sod. Then they built a small frame house 14x16 and a log barn for their cattle. Twenty-three oxen were used to plow the land to work into a field for grains like wheat, oat, barley and potatoes etc. Tena was the first child born in 1882 then Olina (Lena) born 1884. Wilhelm or Willie born Dec 15, 1886."

Dad's and Mother's homestead farm is 160 acres. Andrew and Anna - Morken and Alme. Mother the only girl born to Thor and Anna Alme. Children, Tena born 1882, Lena born 1884, Wilhem born 1886, Fred born 18888 and Agnes born 1890. Dad's Homestead Farm 160 acres, 6 miles east of Ulen, Minnesota. Sold it and bought a 80 acre farm in Lake Eunice and 6 miles south of Audubon."

Regarding the revival, in 1890 -1900. The revival came to our family and neighbors by Fredrick Teigen who was a friend to my folks, Mr. and Mrs. A.O. Morken. And they were converted together with many of our neighbors. The revival services were held in the farmers homes, in Walworth Township, 6 miles east of Ulen Minnesota. Then another revival came in 1902 when the Holy Spirit was given to many."
