Biography

– Lillian M. (Morin) Forgue Dufault, 95, formerly of Rimmon Avenue in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home on Depot Street in Chicopee on February 23, 1920, a beloved daughter of the late Alfred J. and Augustine (Labrecque) Morin. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated in 1938 from Cathedral High School and lived in Chicopee for many years. She furthered her education and, in 1942, graduated from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee. She later lived on Nottingham Street in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield before moving to Rimmon Avenue in Chicopee. During her early years, she was employed by the former Springfield Armory and later worked as a teacher’s aide at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Springfield. She was last employed as a teacher at several Springfield elementary schools. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church where, she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. She was later a communicant of the former Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. She was currently a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. Most of all, she was a caring woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands, George C. Forgue who was Called Home on August 8, 1970 and Clifford J. Dufault who was Called Home on July 7, 2002. Besides her husbands and parents, she was also predeceased by her loving daughter, Marie T. (Forgue) Gavin who was Called Home on February 27, 2013; her three dear brothers, Alfred E. Morin, J. Paul Morin, and Ernest Morin; and her two dear sisters, Sister Beatrice Morin, DHS and Sister Alfred de Marie Morin, DHS. She leaves her five devoted children, Pauline M. Forgue of Southwick, Marguerite A. “Peggy” Switzer and her husband, Cary, of Chicopee, Suzanne A. Harrison and her husband, Robert, of Southwick, Mark G. Forgue and his wife, Denise, of Springfield and David C. Forgue and his partner, Lisa, of Plaistow, NH; her loving son-in-law, James R. Gavin of Manchester, NH; her eight cherished grandchildren, Jason Switzer and his partner, Danielle, Brian Harrison and his wife, Alicia, Kevin Harrison, Jonathan Forgue and his wife, Sheila, Matthew Forgue and his wife, Carrie, Jenifer Forgue, Katelyn Forgue and Christopher Forgue and his partner, Courtney; her nine cherished great-grandchildren, Quinn Switzer, Evan, Jackson and Cooper Forgue, Crystal and Brianna Forgue, Logan and Alayna LaPierre and Ryan Forgue; her loving sister, Irene Remillard of Chicopee; her dear sister-in-law, Lucienne Morin of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Dufault, Forgue and Morin families. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, March 12, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 292 Hampden Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Resident Council Fund at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center Van Fund, 35 Holy Family Road, Holyoke, MA 01040.
