Biography

Marie Céleste Morin was born on October 16, 1813 in Kamouraska to André Morin and Marie Céleste Pelletier. She was baptized the same day at Saint-Louis de Kamouraska[1].

She married Maximien Martel on April 22, 1844 in Trois-Pistoles[2]. They had eight children:

  • Marie Aglaë Martel born February 18, 1845 in Trois-Pistoles[3]
  • Jean Martel born June 5, 1846 in Trois-Pistoles[4]
  • Marie Aglaë Martel born January 15, 1848 in Trois-Pistoles[5]
  • Joseph Martel born July 24, 1849 in Les Escoumins[6]
  • Marie Sara Martel born May 14, 1851 in Les Escoumins[7]
  • Alphonse Hubert Martel born April 21, 1853 in Les Escoumins[8]
  • Nazaire Martel born September 28, 1854 in Les Escoumins[9]
  • Marie Adèle Martel born April 25, 1857 in Les Escoumins[10]

In 1861, Marie and Maximien were living in Les Escoumins with their children John, Aglaée, Joseph, Sara, Alphonse, Nazaire, and Adele[11].

Maximien died on June 9, 1869 in Les Escoumins at the age of fourty-five. He was buried the next day[12].

Marie was still living in Les Escoumins in 1871. Her children Jean, Alphonce, and Nazaire were living with her[13].

She was still residing in Les Escoumins in 1881. She lived with her daughter Aglaë and her family, along with her son Alphonse[14].

Marie died on October 16, 1887 in Les Escoumins at the age of seventy-four. She was buried the next day[15].
