Jacob was married twice, he took out a bond and obtained a marriage license on 22 Oct 1800 in Rowan County to marry his first wife, Elizabeth Smith. They made their home in Washington County, Pennsylvania.
Jacob and Elizabeth were blessed with 6 documented children 5 boys and 1 girl. Elizabeth died when she was 50 years old, shortly after this birth of their first and only daughter, Margaret Morgan.
After the death of his first wife, Jacob decided this was the golden opportunity to move out west. This is where he met his second wife, Nancy Ann Copenhaver, the daughter of Hugh Wilson and widow of Isaac Copenhaver. Jacob again took out a bond for marriage, this time it was in Tyler County located in the western portion of Virginia on the 13th day of February in the year of 1839.
Jacob passed away on the 20th of September, 1863 in Fishing Creek, Wetzel County, WV.
