Joseph Steely Morgan was a school teacher, pharmacist, and one of the founders of Morgan Packing Co. He also owned and ran a small general store in Austin. He ran every aspect of Morgan Packing Co. from time-keeper to president. He eventually bought out all investors in the company and worked 18 hrs. a day in the factory.
