  • OBITUARY.
  • MRS. J. Jr. McWHANNELL.
  • The death occurred on Sunday at her residence, Strathfield, of Mrs. Jessie Mary McWhannell, widow of the late Thomas McWhannell, of Rodney Downs station, Queensland, one of the Pioneers of western Queensland. The late Mrs. McWhannell, after making her home at Strathfield, took an active part for many years in the work of St. Luke's Church in Burwood and Concord, and became prominently associated with the Children's Home at Marrickville, the Hospice for the Dying, and the Church of England Deaconess Institution, of which she was an office-bearer. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. C.Fellows Thompson (of New Zealand), and a son, Mr. Thos. Rodney McWhannell. She is survived also by three sisters-Mrs. J. C. McWhannell and. Mrs. A. P. Forsyth, of Strathfield, and Mrs. C. W. Little, of Darling Point. The interment took place at the Waverley Cemetery on Monday. A service at St. Jude's Church, Randwick, was conducted by Canon Cakebread, assisted by Canon Claydon. Canon Cakebread was at the graveside.
