Biography

Geraldine was born in 1941. She was the daughter of Oley Morgan. She passed away in 2012.

Geraldine "Gerry" Gatrell, age 70, departed this life Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Mount Airy, NC. She was born September 22, 1941 in Doddridge County, WV, a daughter of the late Oley and Grace Henderson Morgan.

Gerry was a 1959 graduate of the former Pennsboro High School and completed college classes through West Virginia State College and Parkersburg Community College.

She worked for 30 years for the Ritchie County Board of Education, with 27 of those years she was the school secretary at Creed Collins Elementary School, Pennsboro, WV. Her interests in the community were evidenced by her participation in numerous community endeavors. She was awarded the lifetime PTO membership and was a lifetime member of the West Virginia School Service Personnel Association. She was always active in many community projects as a devoted member of the Pennsboro Woman's Club where she held many offices. She had served as a Pennsboro City Councilwoman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. Larry Gatrell; brother, O.R. "Sonny" Morgan. Gerry will be dearly missed by all her friends and family. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the McCullough-Rogers funeral home, Pennsboro, WV. Burial in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Hebron, WV, at the convenience of the family.
