Biography

George Morgan was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

George Hampton Morgan was born on 5 Sep 1841 in Gainesboro, Jackson, Tennessee, United States, son of Rev Daniel Morgan Morgan (1809 - 1872) and Susannah Smith (1813 - 1873).

George married Mary Ann Butler (1845 - 1883) on 15 Apr 1869 in Jackson.[1]

George married Mary Elizabeth Trogden (1844 - 1929) on 16 Apr 1885 in DeKalb, Tennessee.[2]

In the 1860 census George (age 18) was at 1st District South of Cumberland River, Jackson, Tennessee, United States.[3] Daniel M Morgan 51, Susan Morgan 47, Jobe Morgan 26, Perry Morgan 21, George Morgan 18, Sally Morgan 15, Nancy Morgan 13, Samiel Morgan 10, Lucinda Morgan 6, Lewis Morgan 2.

In the 1870 census G (age 29), Lawyer, was in District 1, Jackson, Tennessee.[4] G H Morgan 29, Mary A Morgan 25, David H Morgan 3/12.

In the 1880 census Geo (age 38), Lawyer, was the married head of household in Gainesboro, Jackson, Tennessee, United States.[5] Geo. H. Morgan 38.

In the 1900 census George (age 59), Supervisor Of Senior, the married head of household in Civil District 1, Putnam, Tennessee, United States.[6] George H Morgan 59, wife Mary E Morgan 56, son Daniel H Morgan 30, daughter Mary Lou Morgan 27, son George E Morgan 22, boarder Nannie Barler 43, boarder Oliver H Anderson 24, wife Alberda Anderson 20, daughter Ara Anderson 2.

George died on 27 Jul 1900 in Cookeville, Putnam, Tennessee aged 58. He is buried in Cookeville City Cemetery, Cookeville, Tennessee.[7][8]
