Biography

The Morgan family was founded in America by three brothers who came hither from Wales and settled respectively in Massachusetts, New York, and Virginia.

James Morgan, who was born in Brimfield Mass in 1780, was a sea captain and a foreign trader in the East Indies. During the War of 1812 he held a Captain's commission and was captured by the Spanish authorities and imprisoned for a time.

He married Miss Margaret Patch whose ancestors were of English origin and who was a native of Dublin, Mass, born in 1782.[1]

Brian I know who his parents are, Elijah Morgan and Patty unknown. He was born July 20, 1780 in Brimfield, MA. Elijah Morgan was the son of Joseph Morgan Sr. and his second wife Rachael Dada [Morgan-1635, Dada-15] Elijah Morgan [Morgan-30614 was born May 31, 1758 per Brimfield,MA. vital records. I could not find a marriage for Elijah and Patty nor her maiden name. It appears Elijah married again October 8th, 1778 to Martha Hitchcock unless Elijah had a son Elijah? I am related to Joseph Morgan Sr. through his brother Daniel Morgan Sr. Thus the Dada middle name for son James .
