Biography

Lonnie R. Morgan, 46, of 428 South 19th St., Keokuk, died on Sunday, July 5, 1998, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 17, 1951, in Keokuk, the son of George and Betty Hammel Morgan. He married Sherry Percival on Aug. 12, 1969, in Alexandria, Mo. She survives.

Additional survivors include; a son, Derke Morgan of Keokuk; a granddaughter, Meagan Morgan of Keokuk; his parents of Keokuk; two brothers, George Morgan Jr., and Terry Morgan of Keokuk; a sister, Georgia Merschman of Fort Madison; and numberous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

He lived most of his life in Keokuk and also in Elvaston, Ill., for 15 years.

He worked as an auto body repairman since 1970 and had been self employed since 1986.

Mr. Morgan was a member of the Keokuk Elks Club BPOE #106 and the Southside Boat Club.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was active within the American Legion with their activities.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at DeJong's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Fred Lohman officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation is after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. A public Elks service is at 7 p.m.

A memorial has been established.
