1909, 28 August:- SOCIAL NEWS.The marriage of Mr. F. J. Morgan, manager of the Royal Bank, and Miss Gertrude Dyer, was very quietly solemnised at St. Paul's Church on Saturday, August 28. The bride who was given away by her father, wore a modish coat and skirt of dark grey faced with black velvet, and finished with large black velvet buttons; black picture hat with ostrich feathers and long black ribbon velvet streamers. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Morgan left for Townsville, and returned yesterday.
WEDDING. Morgan-Dyer., Mr. Frank Morgan, Manager of the Royal Bank, Charters Towers, and son of the Lieutenant-Governor, was married at Townsville on Saturday last to Miss Dyer, who is very popular at Charters Towers (writes our Charters Towers Correspondent)

LEADER'S DEATH: MR. F. J. MORGAN. Mr. Franklin James Morgan, a Queenslander whose name was known in many facets of Queensland life, died in a Brisbane private hospital yesterday, aged 79. Mr. Morgan, the son of a Queensland Premier and Lieutenant Governor, was awarded the Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George in 1960's New Year Honours list. He had been ill for two months. Until October he was chairman of the board of Finney Isles and Co., Ltd. He retired his position because of ill-health. Mr. Morgan was also a director on the boards of Commonwealth Dental Supply Co., Pty., Ltd., and Jackson and O'Sullivan Pty., Ltd. Bank Post. From 1931 to 1945 he was the Queensland manager for the National Bank and had an Australia-wide reputation for his work with the bank in Queensland. Mr. Morgan was born in Warwick, in 1873, the son of Sir Arthur Morgan, who was Queensland Premier from 1903 to 1906 and Lieutenant Governor in 1908. Mr. Morgan was treasurer of the Crippled Children's Society since its foundation, and a president of the Royal Society for Prevention and Cruelty. He was also a vice-president of the Royal National Association until he died, and was a president of the Brisbane Rotary Club. Funeral. He was president of the Royal Geographical Society, treasurer of the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies and from 1920 to 1924 chairman of the State Wheat Board. A funeral service for Mr. Morgan will be held in the Mt. Thompson Crematorium East Chapel at 3.30 p.m. today. (note:- 1873 was not the year of birth, should read 1883)

Mr. Morgan was born in Warwick in 1873, the son of Sir Arthur Morgan, who was Queensland's Premier from 1903 to 1906 and Lieutenant-Governor in 1906. Educated at the Warwick Central State School and the Brisbane Grammar School. Mr. Morgan joined the Queensland business world soon after completing his education. Mr. Morgan was well known for his community services and work on voluntary organisations. From 1920 to 1924 he was chairman of the State Wheat Board. Mr. Morgan was awarded the Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George in 1960's New Year's honour list. A funeral service for Mr. Morgan will be held in the Mt. Thompson Crematorium at 3.30 p.m. today. He is survived by four adult children.
