Research Notes

Rootsweb tree shows that James Morgan served in the French and Indian Wars and also in the Revolutionary War as a Loyalist. Lists his father as James Morgan b c 1683 d May 1764 Eastchester NY and mother Abigail Fowler, no date. Lists grandparents: Charles MORGAN b: ABT 1649 in Gravesend, New Amsterdam (New York) and Elizabeth FEKE (FEAKE) Elizabeth Feak's mother as Mary Patrick, father seems uncertain but Elizabeth used the surname Feake. He may have been Tobias FEAKE b: 1622 in London <https://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=kellycol1&id=I1223/>

Widow Mary Feak / Feke nee Patrick, will dated 20 August 1691 in NY, to daughter Elizabeth Morgan, granddaughters Mary and Aritus Morgan. Grandsons Thomas James and Charles 20 acre lots in Flushing. Friends Samuel Dean, Hugh Cowperthwait, Samuel Haight. Residue to daughter Judith. Probate 2 May 1692. Was a Loyalist in the Revolutionary War. Joined the Redding Loyalist Association.

In 1781, was denied a tax abatement as he had a "son or son-in-law gone over to the enemies of the United States"
