Biography

Sidney Morgan is a part of US Black heritage.

Sidney A. Morgan was born about 1834. His wife was Elizabeth Reed. He died before 1900.

Notes

Sidney's son Garrett A. Morgan was a notable inventor, and there are multiple biographies of Garrett which claim that Sidney's father was Confederate General John Hunt Morgan. John Morgan would have been 10 years old at Sidney’s inception prior to puberty so he could not be the father. As of Jul 2022, this is no longer a fact on John Hunt Morgan's Wikipedia page.

Note however that the current entry for Garrett Morgan in the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History states the following:

"He has long been believed to be the grandson of Confederate John Hunt Morgan, though the lack of historical records make this difficult to verify." while fathering a child at 10 year old is impossible. Please consider DNA to find the real father.
