Military Service = He was a Private in Company H, 34th Regiment of Georgia Infantry, CSA, from 1862 to 1865 during the Civil War. He was captured at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863, and paroled there on July 8, 1863. He was wounded at Atlanta on July 22, 1864.

His first wife Mary died on 10 Aug 1867, while giving birth to their son Daniel.
