My mom's dad was named Walter Carlisle but he was an orphan and eventually adopted and named Richard Morgan by his adopting parents. So my mom says.
Update: So it turns out his name is/was Walter Carlisle Morgan except I think that Morgan could be from the adopting family. I'm not sure I even believe that he was adopted, maybe these were his real parents and for some reason he had disowned them? Census records show he had a brother, Willie R. Morgan, that was born 9 months after Walter if the dates are correct. His parents in the Census are Evan and Lizzie Morgan and they were living in Lewis County Kentucky. This was from the 1900 Federal Census.
