Léopold was born in 1868. Léopold Moret ... He passed away in 1939.
Léopold emigrated to Canada having sailed from Liverpool, England to Halifax and arriving Apr 17, 1908 on the ship Victorian. There were many other Belgian miners and their families on board. Eugenie and children, Elisa, Antonie & Adelie, followed him four months later having sailed from Liverpool England to Montreal, Quebec and arriving Aug 21, 1908 on the ship Virginian.
Léopold & Eugenie were naturalized as British subjects, (Canadian citizens) on August 29 1935. Leopold was a miner. In a description of particulars on his naturalization paper, Leopold is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, ruddy complexion, brown eyes and brown hair (turning grey). Distinguishing marks included a crippled right hand. His obituary suggests he was survived by two sisters in Belgium, unfortunately their names are as yet unknown.
In 1911 the family resided on MacLean Street in Inverness (Household 220).
