Biography

David Morcom was born in Blaby, Leicestershire, England.

David was born in 1918. He was the son of Joseph Morcom and Marjorie Tindall. He passed away in 2017.

David's birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1919 in the Blaby district.^[1]

David attended Wyggeston School and when he left in 1935 he went to work for his father who was sculptor producing memorials and garden ornaments in stone at the Old Turret Gateway, Newarke, Leicester. ^[2]

David joined the Leicestershire Yeomanry in 1936 and saw active service from 1939–1946. His father kept his hopes alive of David joining him in the company, producing a leaflet in 1938 bearing the name 'J.H. Morcom and Son.' However Joseph died in 1942 and David was given leave from the army to tend to his father's affairs and close down the business.^[2]

His marriage to Diana S. BURTON was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1955 in the Surrey N.E. district.^[3]

David's death (age 99) was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 2017 in the Somerset district.^[4]
