Charles Cadwell "C.C." Moore, a wealthy San Francisco businessman and civic leader, gained international fame as President of the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915. He was also prominent in the Boy Scouts Movement.
Charles was born on July 12th,1868, a son of Lewis William and Mary B. Moore.[1][2]
On November 15th, 1893 he married Lillian May Breed. A marriage license was issued to "Charles C. Moore, 26 years of age, a native of New York, residing in San Francisco, and Lillian M. Breed, 22 years of age, native of Massachusetts, residing in this city [Los Angeles, CA]." [3][4] They had the following children:
SANTA CRUZ. April 18.— Charles C. Moore, 63, San Francisco civic leader, prominent in the Boy Scout movement and director of many business corporations, died at his home late yesterday of cerebral hemorrhage.
Moore apparently had been in excellent health. Less than a week ago he assumed chairmanship of Mayor Rossi’s citizens’ committee to campaign for the Hetch Hetchy bond issue.
When he left the offices of his engineering company Friday night for his usual Santa Cruz weekend, he told his associates he expected to be kept very busy with the campaign. He retired early Saturday, but at midnight complained to his wife of being unable to sleep. A short time later he sank into a coma from which he failed to rally.
