Hi Seth

I see that you've been creating some pre-1500 profiles by entering the birthdate as "before 1500". As you've seen this is technically possible, although it is not meant to be used to create pre-1500 profiles in this way especially when the marriage date is entered as 1485 (which creates a Wikitree database error!).

These profiles also need reliable sources (as do all pre-1700 profiles). User generated trees from FamilySearch do not count as reliable sources. I checked the link to the same profiles on the FamilySearch trees and they were unsourced too.

If you wish to collaborate with a pre-1500 certified member for your pre-1500 ancestors, there is some very good guidance here.

Best wishes, Jo, England Project leader

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging. We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community. And we're always looking for volunteers to assist in different ways. As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions! Matt~ WikiTree Mentor

HI, I see you are working on merges, you may want to review http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Matching_and_Merging_FAQ to understand your responsibilities in doing merges. Remember, after the merge you will want to clean up the text. During a merge, the text from the merged-away profile is simply appended onto the end of the text of the merged-into profile. You will want to integrate it into a single biography and a single sources section. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Hi there Seth,

We are really happy that you took the Pre-1700 certification Quiz. Thank you for doing your part to make WikiTree an accurate and openly collaborative place for genealogists to share their research.

Do you have some 1700's people in your tree already ? Now that you have the badge, you can take part in one of our historical projects.

If you have any questions, you can contact one of our Mentors or Volunteer Coordinator, Erin .

Have a great day !

Hello Seth,

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
