Mary married Richard Charles Emmanuel Philps on 19 July 1877 near Truro, South Australia.^[2] The following death notice was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Evening Journal, on 23 July 1877: ^[3]

PHILPS — MOODY. — On the 19th July, by special licence, at the residence of the bride's parents, by the Rev. R. L. Coward, Richard C. E. Philps, of Kilkerran, Yorke's Peninsula, eldest son of the late Rev. A. R. Philps, to Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. John Moody, Capalala, near Truro
