Biography

Dr. John Monier, Surgeon to the St. John's Garrison.

John married Hannah Roberts before 1742 and they had the following children:

3. Elizabeth (Betty) 1744-1768
4. Roberta b 1745

He was recorded by George Williams of Woodlane Estate, near Liverpool, England in 1843, as coming from an old Jersey family. From 25 December 1745 - 7 October 1761, he was described as a Garrison Mate & Surgeon in his Majesty’s Garrison at St. John’s, Newfoundland. He leased property from William Roberts on 7 March 1748. In 1759, he was a trustee and member of the building committee for the Anglican Cathedral. When he wrote his will in 1761, his wife Hannah, was still alive. On 3 May 1762, the will was administered.
