I just found genetic matches to people with ancestors that were native to, settled in, &/or lived in Acadia in the 17th and 18th century (possibly 16th) I’d like find out more about my ancestors and find out about the Huron, Mi’kmiq and Acadian. My family oral history is that some were native to the area Canada/ Nova Scotia, and in the 16th century some ancestors from France, maybe Normandy, emigrated to St Pierre de Mequillon, Newfoundland. They were master stone masons and then possibly fur trappers
My name is John Kingman. I am a Coordinator with the WikiTree DNA Project.
Since you have started following a DNA tag, you may be interested in how you can use DNA test matches with your relatives to strengthen your genealogy on WikiTree. You will find the answers in the Help pages, of which the DNA Help category page shows all the DNA help that is available, and the How to Get Started with DNA page is highlighted. Also the DNA Features page can show you various ways that DNA tests can work with your genealogy. For a detailed guide to connecting DNA test results to WikiTree profiles via GEDmatch, look here.
You may see some relatives show up in your list of "DNA Connections" on your profile if they have added a DNA test to their profile. These DNA Connections are possible DNA test matches, they are not sufficient for marking parental relationships as "confirmed with DNA" without providing a DNA Confirmation source citation providing details of an acceptable DNA match. You may find that you have acceptable matches with some of them. There is more information about DNA Connections on the DNA Test Connections page.
When you are ready to start documenting that your genealogy sources are confirmed by DNA test matches, be sure to follow the guidance at the Confirmed with DNA help page. Also, I strongly recommend using the DNA Confirmation Citation Maker WikiTree app for creating and/or validating your DNA confirmation source citations. Note that a profile should not be marked "confirmed with DNA" without source citations for both genealogy and relevant DNA test matches.
If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to ask on the G2G Forum using the Tag "DNA" and/or "DNA_Confirmation".
Happy WikiTree-ing!
John Kingman

As WIkiTree members and those members enter the living family members, this comes down to generalizing and privatizing profiles.
If you want to write a biography, do not put exact dates, places, or names of places you went to school, worked, etc. Generalize the entries, which helps secure your information. If you look at my profile, I have the mustard yellow lock on the upper right corner, and your profile's "public view" shows you what the public (not on your Trusted List) sees. You see that on my profile. That level also shows a public tree, and those still living will show it as private.
All family members who have not signed the Honor Code will be coded and privatized, as well as children. Click on the Help button at the top right of your profile, go to "help search," and enter Privacy for more information.

This answers your last question. Regarding DNA, this page links helpful information: DNA Topics. If you uploaded your DNA kit number from 23&Me on the back end, the information is gathered and posted, and you will see your DNA relatives, which could include other WikiTree members, on their profiles. The raw DNA data is not uploaded.
I hope this helps, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
Take care ~ Sheryl
