Started into my family genealogy when I was 10 years old. Have a good knowledge of what is available in Ireland and always dig out some more info on my visits home. My data base on my computer is now over 14,000 people all somehow related. However, I have to get my sources sorted out from my many hundred pages of material I have collected over the years. As I get this done I will keep adding batches of it up here. I am also thankful to all the people who have helped me along the way. Lastly, I have given copies of my database to some relatives as an extra backup and I will give new copies as I get my own base sorted out and updated and I also save it on an external drive. (Everyone should have a backup of some kind if they are going to spend any time on genealogy.) Jerry

Jerry, do you happen to speak any other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add

{{ Languages | en | fr-2 | ga-1 }}

to the top of your biography if you speak English natively, intermediate French and basic Irish, or you could use de-4 to specify near-native German or ru-1 for basic Russian, and so forth up to ten languages.

It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree! If you only speak English, you're very welcome to use this text to make that clear:

{{ Languages | en }}

Thanks,

Karen

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. You might want to check the One Name Studies Project to see if there is a project for one of your surnames. Be sure to also check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members!

Let me know, and I can help you figure out if there's a project that might interest you. Welcome aboard, we are glad to have you!

Hi!

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

And we're always looking for volunteers to assist in different ways.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Hello Jerry,

How are you doing? Hope you're enjoying our site.

Our vision is to build a collaborative tree. Please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide.

Also Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course, I'm here to help in any way I’m able. Just ask!
