Biography

John was born in 1925. He was the son of Daniel Mock and Sarah Lorenz.

John married Jeannette D Corey on 25 October 1947 in Hillsborough, Florida, United States.^[1][2]

Obituary

COL, JOHN EDWIN MOCK, U. S. AIR FORCE DIES

At the Virginia Hospital Center, from complications related to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He lived in McLean, Fairfax County, VA, and was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Mock.

Col. Mock attended Keith Junior High School and Altoona High School, and attended Penn State. He was appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and joined the U.S. Army Air Corps upon his graduation. He served 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1968 with the rank of colonel.

He was selected to become science adviser to the governor and the Georgia General Assembly. In 1974, he continued a career dedicated to scientific research and development while working for the Federal Government. He was a founding Member of the Energy Research and Development Agency, and the U.S. Department of Energy. He retired in 1995 after 52 years of work. "He was an inspiring role model and is best remembered for his optimism and cheerful attitude, as well as his kind-hearted manner and extremely generous spirit."

Survivors include daughter, Susan Mock of Virginia; stepdaughter and her husband, Donna & Harold Meschke of Texas.

Interment followed funeral services conducted at the Money & King Funeral Home in Vienna, VA, Wednesday, October 1, 2008.

A public memorial service was held at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, WV, Saturday, May 29, 2010; Rev. Judith E. Simonson, Pastor, presided.
