David Mitchell (James3, John2, Henry1) b. 1730 d. 1789-90, m. Hannah George Satterwhite b. 1730. He received five shillings from his father’s will. David Mitchell was a Justice of the County Court Granville, Co. N.C. 1767-1779. He was a captain in the militia in August 1772. There is a record of David Mitchell being granted a license to operate an “Ordinary” (means: meals served) at the dwelling of Thomas Satterwhite.
His wife, Hannah George Satterwhite's middle name comes from Margaret Goodrum's book in most references she is simply Hannah Satterwhite Mitchell.
David Mitchell had nine children named in lawsuit, 1806: Letters of Administration on estate of David Mitchell, granted Thomas Mitchell, 8 Aug 1806. Filed 1 July 1812 Petition of Thomas Jeffreys & Milly (1) his wife and William Pannell & Martha (2) his wife vs. Thomas Mitchell (3), admin of David Mitchell, dec'd. Thomas Mitchell granted Administration on the first Monday of ___ 180_ and took into possession considerably property of David Mitchell. Two years have passed and he has not settled. The defendants and Elijah Mitchell (4), Charles Mitchell (5), John Mitchell (6), Susan who intermarried with Elijah Moor (7), Betsy who intermarried with William Saunders (8), and Hannah who intermarried with James Saunders (9), are entitled to a NINTH part of said Estate as their distributive share. Thomas Mitchell has settled and satisfied with Elijah, Charles, John, Susan, Betsy & Hannah or their heirs. Had any other children died earlier, they had died without issue. The estate was so long in settling due to debts and lawsuits
