William was born about 1824. He was the son of Abijah Mitchell and Mary Wells. He enlisted in Dec 1861 in Co E 53rd Tennessee Infantry, also known as Isaac Hill’s Company of Tennessee Volunteers. He was captured and died of dysentery Jul 1862 at Camp Morton in Indianapolis, indiana.
