Biography

William Minchin was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

William Minchin was born 16 August 1857. He was the son of Andrew Minchin and Ann Haddrill.

He married Jane Ellen Moor (the daughter of Captain Thomas Tempest Moor and Mary Ann Treanor) on 23 January 1884 in Picola, Victoria.

They had the following children:

1. Maud Minchin (b. 22 Aug 1884, d. 6 Nov 1920)
2. Edith Stella Eliza Minchin (b. 24 Oct 1885, d. 8 Sep 1942)
3. William Hugh Minchin (b. 13 Jul 1887, d. 13 Feb 1952)
4. Reginald Francis Minchin (b. 12 Dec 1889, d. 12 Dec 1958)
5. Linden James Minchin (b. 6 Jul 1892, d. 1 Nov 1967)
6. Arthur Minchin (b. 4 Apr 1895, d. 17 Aug 1959)

He was a farmer and selector.

Sadly William passed away on 19 August 1895. An inquest into his death was held and the cause of death was ascertained as being from a gunshot wound accidentally self-inflicted.
