Christine Miller was born in Phoenix, Arizona at St. Joseph's Hospital on 25 October 1961 to Rex Tony Miller and Etta Jean Shaver Miller. She was one of two daughters born to the union. Her sister was Paula Jean Miller Garrison (1965-1993) who passed from metastatic carcinoma of unknown primary at the age of 28.
Chris graduated from Pueblo Elementary School in 1975, Saguaro High School in 1979 and Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Music Therapy in 1985.
She worked as a Music Therapist for seven years with Geriatrics and Brain Injury. Chris decided to step away from Music Therapy for a bit. She went back to working retail management as she had in high school, expecting to return to Music Therapy, but ended up staying in retail for the next 35+ years. The businesses she worked for in retail were JC Penneys in Wisconsin; Lane Bryant in Wisconsin and Colorado; Cracker Barrel, Maurices and Ulta Beauty, all in Montana. She never returned to Music Therapy as a profession, but did still utilize her skills as a volunteer.
Christine went back to school at age 55 and obtained certification in Genealogy Research from Boston University in order to research her family history as well as help others with their family research. "I feel so blessed to have known all four grandparents and 4 of my great grandparents. All of their stories led me to Genealogy."
After her sister's death, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be close to her niece, Emily because at the age of four, Emily asked her to come. She would spend 5 years in the Springs until her promotion with Lane Bryant to open a new store in Broomfield, Colorado. Her niece told her at the age of nine that she was okay now, so she could move if she wanted to. She only moved an hour away, so she still saw her niece weekly.
During Emily's eighth grade year, her father, Wendell Arthur Garrison remarried to a wonderful lady who Chris considers her "bonus sister," Heather Elizabeth Holm Grainger. They trained with United Indian Missions and became missionaries in Houston, British Columbia, Canada, so Chris move to Missoula, Montana to work for Cracker Barrel. This way she could be a closer drive to her niece. Chris' parents also moved to Montana for the same reason. Unfortunately, the Cracker Barrel job would be the worst job Chris ever had! She moved on to working for Maurices in Missoula and Helena, Montana.
Chris' father suffered a stroke in 2013 which brought Chris back to working in Missoula for Ulta Beauty. She would remain there for three and a half years before retiring for physical reasons. Her knees, after of years on her feet, were giving up. After one knee replacement, the medical professionals told her she could not return to retail, so she went back to school online with Boston University for her certification in Genealogy Research.
On March 5, 2021, Chris became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), member #1017291, through her ancestor Matthew Steen (Steen-165).

My next task is to start searching for Charles's parents. He's not a son of Richard Richardson (married Dorcas) - at least, he wasn't named in Richard's will. Maybe they were brothers, I don't know. I've not looked closely at all this yet. I got started on the Richardsons - particularly Charles - because he somehow ended up with 200 acres of land that one of my ancestors, Amos Thames, (a gg?-uncle) had patented. Using the new AI search feature on familysearch.org, I found Juliana's sister Dorothy inheriting this land from her dad. And that same record mentioned Juliana being her sister. I've not found a record to show Amos getting rid of it, so I'm exploring the possibility that it may have gone to Charles through some sort of family relationship. We don't know who Amos's wife was - yet. Finding Charles's parents might help solve it. And there were actually two Amos's, Sr and Jr, for whom we don't know spouses.
