Actor and playwright who received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama
John Anthony Miller who was better known as Jason Miller was born in 1939. His parents are Jason Miller and Mary Collins. [1] He attended the University of Scranton, where he received a degree in English and philosophy, and the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He was an actor and playwright.
He received the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play "That Championship Season" and was widely recognized for his role as Father Damien Karras in the 1973 horror film "The Exorcist" where he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He later became Artistic Director of the Scranton Public Theatre in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where "That Championship Season" was set.
He died (age 62) on 13 May 2001 residing in Scranton, Lackawanna, Pennsylvania, United States.[2]
