Alexander Millar, Pioneer Reno County, Dies
Alexander Millar, pioneer citizen of Reno county and Civil War veteran, who passed away early yesterday morning, will be buried Monday afternoon. The services will be conducted from the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Ij. Sponsler, Twelfth Ave- west, at 2:30 o'clock.
Alexander Millar was born October 28th, In Town Land, of , Kilcreevey, County Armagh, Ireland, in the year 1936. He came to this country at the age of 17, locating in Illinois. When the Civil War broke out, he enlisted In Company A, 28th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He lost an eye in battle and was mustered out of the service, March 1, 1863. He was married July 2, 1863, to Sarah Ellen Lybarger and in 1873 located In Reno county, Castleton township, where he took a claim under soldier's rights.
He moved to Hutchinson 32 years ago and has resided here since that time. Mrs. Millar passed away five years ago on September 20th. He is survived by six children. [2]
