I am very new to this and have only a set of papers from the Etherington family, collected by my great aunts. Is there any instruction as to how I would participate in the Heatherington surname project? Thank you. Rosalie Etherington
Welcome. What you need to do is to add your people to Wikitree, adding the tags as detailed on the study pages which add them to the study - please add categories such as county so we can see where in the world folks are. If you have connecions to Ossett in Yorkshire, England, come back to me straight away as we might be related!!! If you can tolerate Facebook, It would also be worthwhile joining the Hetherington group there - again a link is on the study pages. You may find relatives there who would be most interested in your papers. Can you scan them and add them to the Wikitree profiles? You should also have some people offering to help you with Wikitree - don't be afraid to ask them for help - most of them don't bite! And of course you can ask me again for help - a private message via Wikitree will allow us to exchange emails. Best Wishes, Andy.
Thanks for all your work on the Etheringtons and co. They are very much on the edge of my large tree only connected through Vinnie Horsley, so I had not even recognised the possibility of Etherington and Heatherington being the same family in their origins. In East Yorkshire the name Etherington is relatively common and the other variants pretty rare.
I'm looking forward to working with you on those profiles!
Karen ~ WikiTree Mentor
The profiles have been merged together because each person is only allowed to have 1 profile. With all the family members that are added to each side you should be able to see where everyone fits in.
You and your information are valuable to us, so I hope that you don't leave.
Take care
Karen
I think you will find that the watchlist was moved over with the merge. I would suggest using Categories to help you keep track of who is who, and where
Take care
Karen
It would be terrific to find any information about her origins !
Which Elizabeth - it's best if you can quote an id - like Micklethwaite-1960? Is she the one who was wife of William Patterson? If so what do you know about her, and what records have you found - which censuses is she on - any clue as to emigration date, etc.
Best Wishes, Andy
Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.
Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As I always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.
Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Whatever, your Duckhouse Name Study is defintely an interesting one !
Yes, I have 2 accounts, as my Duckhouse and Micklethwaite trees number more than the 5000 profile limit of the watchlist. Are you related to Duckhouses? Can you help sort out any of the branch heads? Or even tell me what I need to do to tidy things up - I notice categorisation has changed since I set things up. Best Wishes, Andy.
You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions!
I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Here at WikiTree we like to have our members involved with others; collaboration is key! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Why don't you stop by the England Project, (currently led/coordinated by Maria Maxwell to see how you can participate? I'll let the leaders know you are interested!
You might be interested in one of the other Projects that can be found here.
Let me know if you need help with anything. We are glad to have you on board!

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.
There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.
Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!
Thanks, WikiMessenger Cindy
Thanks for adding profiles to WikiTree. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information."
A source provides a way to find out more about the person. Showing sources reduces confusion and duplicates.
How Do You Find Sources? offers links to free sources (and a few for subscription).
The Sources Style Guide shows how to enter sources in the biography.
Please contact me with any questions you have about adding sources to the profiles you manage.
Thanks,
Shirley ~ WikiTree Mentor
