Giovanni Miata is a Corleone native resident, the son of Don Gaetano Miata and Donna Carmela Basile.
Giovanni has a son with Angela Ferrara, a widow from Prizzi. Because they are unmarried, he is officially the son of unknown parents, born 28 August 1885 in Corleone and baptized the next day as Constantino Basilico. His godmother is Francesca Mule’, wife of Antonino Lucera.[1]
Giovanni marries Angela Ferrara, from Prizzi, the daughter of the late Marco Ferrara and Anna Lampo, and widow of Francesco Profita, on 28 June 1901 in Corleone. His mother has died by this time.[2]
A note below Constantino's baptismal record says that on 28 June 1901, Giovanni Miata and Angela Ferrara legitimized his birth. He marries as their natural son under the name Constantino Gaetano Miata, in New York on 22 June 1913 to Maria Igambato from Naples.[1]
