Biography

John was born in 1904^[1] in burton (Lot 7) PEI

John Merrigan ... He passed away in 1983. He moved to Chicago about 1926-1927 to do. 7 yr apprenticeship as a Coachmaker ( autobody work) He returned to Edmonton about 1933-1934 to work at Mill's Motors. About 1942-43 he left Edmonton with his wife and son to move to Trail, B.C. where he worked at the Sullivan Mine until after the birth of his second son in 1944. At that time he moved his family to Penticton, B. C. Work was scarce in the Okanagan Valley at that time, so Jack as he was called worked in Prince George as a loggerand road building contractor with his brother Pat Merrigan. After a falling out with Pat, he returned to Penticton to work, first in autobody work, then later for the school district and finally for the Penticton Hospital, from which he retired in 1973. John Martin Merrigan is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Penticton, B. C.
