Biography

1906 Birth: Heliene (on the 1910 Census) or Mary Helena (on the Marriage Record) was born about 1906 in Ithaca, Tompkins county, New York. She is the daughter of Harry Medlock and Helen Kishpaugh. ^[1]

1910 USA Census: Dad Harry T. Medlock is 30 and mum Helen is 29. They have been married for 5 years. Both were born in New York state as were their parents (? not true Harry's parent were born in England) Harry is a Conductor employed by Street RR (Rail Road?). Heliene Medlock is four years old. Harry is currently employed, but has been unemployed for 10 weeks in the past. The couple can both read and write and rent their house at 1110 East Falla Street, Ithaka, Tompkins county. ^[2]

1920 US Federal Census: Helena M Medlock is now 14 years old. She is living with her parents at Aurora St in Ithaca. Dad is a Brakeman on the Railroad. ^[3]

1926 Marriage: to Kent Bessley Freer on 13 March 1926 in Ithaca, Tompkins, New York. The marriage record gives Helena's name as Mary Helena Medlock, her parents are Harry T. Medlock and Helen A. Kishpaugh. Kent's parents are Bessley Freer and Caroline Kent ^[4]

1930 Census: The Freer family are living at North AuriraStreet, Ithaca. Helena is 24 and Kent is 31 years old. Kent is an Adding Machine Worker. They have a newborn son, Robert K. Freer. ^[5]

1980 Death: Helena passed away on 21 July 1980. She is buried in Trumansburg. Her obituary mentions children Jack Freer, Robert Freer and Helen Cowder, her spouse Kent Freer and her parents Harry and Helen Medlock. ^[6]
